Tips on How to Create Secure Email Passwords

Your email password gives you access to all the information found in your email. It’s important that you create a secure email password that others won’t be able to guess. After all, once someone has hacked into your account, they can use your email for online transactions and even get confidential information that they can use against you. Below are some tips on how you can create secure email passwords.

* Don’t use your real name or username as your password. These are too easy for hackers to guess. It’s also advisable that you don’t use other personal information such as your birthday or the names of family members as passwords.

* Pick a password that isn’t a word found in the dictionary. Don’t just use the word “elephant,” for example, especially if elephants are your favorite animals. Keep yourself from using names of planets, flowers, and some of your favorite things as well.

* Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. If you’d like to have the password “iampretty,” for example, you can substitute numbers and symbols for some of the letters to make it more secure. You can opt for “1@mpr3tty” instead.

* In case your email host doesn’t allow the use of symbols in email passwords, you can compensate for that by choosing to use lengthier email passwords. If you’re allowed to use up to 15 characters for your email password, then it would be good for you to use up that many characters.

* Don’t put your passwords online. In case you have an online journal or another email account, refrain from posting your passwords there. Hackers might hack into your account and they would easily be able to access your other accounts.
