Why Mailer Daemon Delivers a Sent Email Back to Your Inbox

Have you ever wondered what the purpose of Mailer Daemon is?

Mailer Daemon is actually an email server software that is responsible for the delivery of emails. The type of emails delivered by Mailer Daemon, however, is different from that of other message delivery programs. The emails delivered by Mailer Daemon are the bounced emails that need to find their way back to their respective senders. Here are some of the reasons your sent email is delivered back by Mailer Daemon:

* The virtual mailbox of the recipient is full

A sent email may find its way back to your inbox if there is no space available in the mailbox of the recipient. If the supposed recipient of your email has already exceeded the storage space limit in his or her mailbox, then all incoming emails are sent back to their respective owners. The explanation for this is that the recipient’s mailbox simply has no room left for your email.

* The email address of the sender is blocked

If the recipient decides to put you in his or her list of blocked users, then all of your emails that are addressed to him or her will find their way back to your inbox.

* The email address of the recipient is misspelled

Mailer Daemon sends an email back when the entered email address of the recipient is incorrect. But how does the Mailer Daemon know that you got it all wrong? Well, an email address only becomes unrecognized by the receiving system if it doesn’t exist in the database. If you want your email to reach its rightful recipient, then make sure that the email address you entered in the TO: field is properly spelled.

How to Zip or Compress Files before Attaching Them to Emails

Attaching a compressed folder or a zipped file to an email is easier than including multiple files in a single message. After all, the upload time for a single file or folder is much shorter than that of multiple files or folders. You can compress multiple files in one of two different ways: by sending them to a compressed folder or by zipping them to a single file.

* Compressing folders

The first method of compressing multiple files is to send them into a compressed folder. To do this, you have to transfer all the files you need to email in a single folder. Right click the folder and choose the “Send To” option in the drop-down menu. From the Send To drop-down menu, choose the “Compressed (zipped) Folder” option to finally send the files into a compressed folder.

* Zipping files

If you have a compression program like WinZip or WinRar installed in your computer, then you can also compress your files into a single zipped file. Like the first method, you also need to transfer all the files that you need to email in a single folder. Right click the said folder and choose the “Add to Archive…” option. Upon clicking the “Add to Archive…” option, a new window will pop on your screen. In the window, choose the archive format that you want to use: a .zip file or a .rar file, depending on which compression program you prefer.

How to send compressed files

To include a compressed folder or a zipped file in your email, you have to select the “Attach File” option in the Compose page of your email provider. Click the “Browse” button to locate the zipped file or compressed folder that you wish to send. Once you find it, click it once to select it. Only click the “Send” button after entering the accompanying message of the outgoing email and the email address of the recipient in their respective fields.
