Email from Small Bowel Transplant Patient Is Fake

A short email allegedly sent by small bowel transplant patient Pauline Talty is now circulating all over the Internet. In the email, Talty tries to reach out to her friends and family to help her get through yet another challenge in her life: dealing with a supposed robbery.

Attending a conference in Europe

According to the email, Talty was attending a conference when her money and travel documents were stolen from her hotel room in the UK. In the email, Talty mentioned that she is confused at the moment and that she needs some help. And by help, she means a loan of 1,400 pounds.

Asking for a loan

The sender of the email is asking the recipients of the message to lend her 1,400 pounds. She said that she needs the money not only to settle her hotel bills, but also to buy her plane ticket. After all, she did claim that her travel documents were also stolen.

Upon reading the email, the instant reaction would be (well, if the recipients of the email are both kindhearted and well-off) to rush off to the nearest Western Union and help Talty. But if you ask the real Pauline Talty, she would advise you to just stay put and ignore the message. After all, she refuses to accept the email’s authorship.

Waiting for a plane in Australia

The truth is, Talty is not attending some “Empowering the Youth” conference in Europe. She is currently staying in a hospital somewhere in Sydney and she is actually waiting for her upcoming flight to the United States. Yes, Talty is finally leaving for the US sometime before Christmas to undergo her much-awaited small bowel transplant operation.
